BG Systems, Inc. was founded in 1992 in the heart of Silicon Valley to provide a solution to the demand for high-reliability precision input devices in the military and commercial visual simulation field. The products developed included a commercial joystick, levers, switches, and a custom designed computer board which handled A/D conversion and RS-232 serial communication. This combination of features provided a unique solution.
Over the years, additional products have been developed to support customers around the world. The applications have primarily been in the defence market. As product lines have been upgraded, BG Systems has made it a priority to ensure backwards compatibility to support long time customers.
In 1997 BG Systems developed the JFx joystick in response to customer demands for more optional features. The JFx products include two, three and four axis versions with many configurations of optional switches and buttons. The components in the mechanical assembly are machined aluminum and stainless steel, with stainless steel ball-bearings for all axes. Displacement of the joystick is measured by Hall Effect solid-state sensors. This technology provides both accurate and reliable performance. The mechanical assembly is precise to allow return to center accuracy of +/- 0.5%. Mechanical assembly has been run for more than 5 million cycles with no impact on accuracy.
